About the Sanctuary

In Thomas Berry’s book “The Dream of the Earth”, he envisions humanity transitioning from the Cenozoic era, characterized by human exploitation and degradation of the planet’s resources, to the Ecozoic era. In the Ecozoic era, humans would embrace a more harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship with the Earth, recognizing themselves as integral participants in the web of life rather than dominant exploiters.

This transition would involve a fundamental shift in values, culture, and ecological ethics, aiming to restore and protect the planet’s biodiversity and ecological health for the benefit of all species and future generations. Berry’s vision encourages a more sustainable and interconnected future for humanity and the Earth.

Ecozoica is a manifestation of this vision.
